Amazon's Drones Are Taking the Delivery Throne

We’ve all seen the evolutions of delivery throughout time. Starting from pigeon deliveries in ancient times to the classic mail-man or milk-man coming to your front door, followed by the evolution of delivery trucks roaming through our streets regularly. Of course transporting merchandise on ships through the sea has been around for a very long time, but with the rise of air travel, delivery companies took delivery to another level once they started using air transport as a way to ship products. But why stop there?

Introducing drone delivery. It’s always sounded like a myth, but drone delivery is about to become very real! One of the worlds largest companies right now, Amazon, has introduced “Amazon Prime Air”. It’s a delivery system designed to safely get packages to customers in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Just imagine ordering something on amazon.com and receiving the item from a robot within the hour! It’s amazing how far technology has come, and this is the next big thing that humans will become accustomed to. The packages delivered by the drones are only allowed to be up to five pounds right now, so don’t expect to get your brand new 50” TV delivered to your house by a drone. Although, there are other things you can expect! Food; before you know it, food will be able to be delivered to your home by drones, which will most likely cause a shift in a lot of different industries. Amazon and other drone companies are still working out the kinks to safely operate these aircrafts in the air without causing any harmful damages, so give them some time to innovate the technology and lets see how the world changes!

There is tons of potential here to completely change the world. Not just from a business standpoint, but in general. Imagine the difference drone delivery could make in places such as war zones and poverty stricken communities. There would be easier access to delivering medical supplies, food, water and much more! This technology will move forward and innovate past just a faster delivery service for regular consumers. It can help make the world a better place! It will take some getting used to, but eventually drone delivery will most likely be commonly used throughout North America, later joined by the rest of the world.
